Updated Jul 25, 2026

A microlesson quiz is a short knowledge check based on the content covered in the learning stubs. It helps learners confirm their understanding, reinforces important concepts and provides immediate feedback.

Quizzes may be generated automatically when the microlesson is created. Content creators should review every AI-generated question before publishing the lesson.

Structure of a quiz question

A quiz question may include:

  • The question

  • Multiple answer options

  • The correct answer

  • An explanation of the answer

  • A progress indicator showing the current and total questions

  • Navigation controls

  • Controls to delete, edit, save or report the quiz

Answering a quiz question

To answer a question:

  1. Read the question and all available options.

  2. Select the most appropriate answer.

  3. Review the feedback displayed by Lurny.

  4. Use the information icon, where available, to view the explanation.

  5. Select the right arrow to continue to the next question.

The explanation helps learners understand why an answer is correct and reinforces the underlying learning point.

Use the arrows on either side of the screen:

  • Select the right arrow to move to the next question.

  • Select the left arrow to revisit the previous question.

The progress indicator, such as 1/5, shows the question currently being viewed and the total number of questions in the quiz.

Quiz-management controls

Depending on the user’s permissions, controls at the bottom of the quiz allow the user to:

  • Delete Quiz

  • Edit Quiz

  • Save Quiz

  • Report Quiz

Some management controls may be available only to content creators or administrators.

Deleting a quiz question

Select Delete Quiz when the current question is duplicated, irrelevant, inaccurate or no longer required.

Lurny displays a confirmation message:

  • Select Yes to delete the question.

  • Select No to retain it.

After deleting a question, confirm that the remaining quiz still adequately assesses the important learning points.

Important: If a question can be corrected, use Edit Quiz instead of deleting it.

Editing a quiz question

Select Edit Quiz to revise the current question, its answer options, the correct answer or its explanation.

The editing window may allow you to update:

  • Question: The knowledge check presented to the learner

  • Options: The possible answers

  • Correct answer: The option that Lurny should recognise as correct

  • Explanation: The feedback that explains the correct answer

How to edit a quiz

  1. Open the question that requires modification.

  2. Select Edit Quiz.

  3. Revise the question or answer options.

  4. Confirm that the correct answer is selected.

  5. Review or update the explanation.

  6. Select Update Quiz to save the changes.

  • Write questions in clear and unambiguous language.

  • Ensure there is only one clearly correct answer unless the question states otherwise.

  • Use plausible alternatives rather than obviously incorrect options.

  • Avoid trick questions and unnecessary complexity.

  • Ensure the answer can be found or inferred from the learning stubs.

  • Explain why the correct answer is appropriate.

  • Avoid clues such as one option being much longer than the others.

Saving a quiz

Select Save Quiz to retain a useful question for personal practice and later review.

The saved question may be added to the learner’s personal collection in My Box, allowing important concepts to be revisited as part of ongoing reinforcement.

Note: Saving a quiz does not modify or duplicate the original question in the microlesson. It creates a personal saved item for the learner.

Reporting a quiz

Select Report Quiz when a question contains a problem that requires review.

A quiz may be reported when:

  • The question is unclear or incomplete.

  • The stated correct answer is wrong.

  • More than one option appears correct.

  • None of the options is correct.

  • The explanation is inaccurate or misleading.

  • The question is unrelated to the microlesson.

  • The question is duplicated.

  • The content is inappropriate or outdated.

  • A technical or display problem occurs.

How to report a quiz

  1. Open the affected question.

  2. Select Report Quiz.

  3. Describe the issue clearly.

  4. Identify the incorrect question, answer or explanation.

  5. Submit the report.

Reporting a quiz alerts the relevant content owner or administrator. It does not automatically change the question.

Reviewing the complete quiz

Before publishing or assigning the microlesson, the creator should confirm that:

  • Every question relates directly to the microlesson content.

  • The important learning points are adequately assessed.

  • Questions are appropriate for the intended audience.

  • Each question has a clearly correct answer.

  • Answer options are realistic and distinct.

  • Explanations are accurate and helpful.

  • Questions are not unnecessarily repetitive.

  • The quiz reflects the selected difficulty and Bloom’s level, where applicable.

  • Grammar, spelling and formatting are correct.

A well-designed quiz should help learners reinforce and apply what they have learned—not merely test their memory.
