Purpose
This LurnyMagic page allows content creators to generate a new microlesson by entering only a topic or instructional prompt. Unlike From Free Text, you do not need to provide the complete source content. Lurny uses its AI capabilities to develop the lesson around the specified subject.
This option is useful when you know what learners need to learn, but do not yet have a webpage, document, recording or prepared content.
Suitable topics and use cases
You can use a prompt to create content such as:
An introduction to a new concept
Product or service knowledge
Customer-service skills
Sales and communication techniques
Leadership and workplace skills
Cybersecurity and data-privacy awareness
Health, safety and compliance topics
Refresher learning on familiar subjects
Preliminary content for a new training programme
How to create the microlesson
Open Create a Microlesson from the left-side menu.
Select From Prompt.
Enter the required topic in the Microlesson Topic field.
Select the required Content Length.
Choose between Cluster and Single Microlesson.
Select the appropriate difficulty level: Easy, Medium or Hard.
Click Create.
Review and refine the generated content before publishing or assigning it.
Writing an effective topic or prompt
A short topic such as Cybersecurity can generate useful introductory content. However, providing more context helps Lurny produce a lesson that is better aligned with your learners and intended outcome.
A good prompt may include:
The subject to be covered
The intended learners
The workplace or learning context
The expected learning outcome
Important points that must be included
For example:
Create an introductory microlesson on identifying phishing emails for employees who regularly communicate with customers and handle confidential information.
Content Length
Use the Content Length menu to control the level of detail in the generated content.
Short: Suitable for quick awareness, refreshers or one narrowly defined idea.
Medium: Suitable for explaining a topic with examples and knowledge checks.
Long: Suitable for broader or more detailed topics requiring greater explanation.
The available labels may vary depending on the platform configuration.
Generation settings
Cluster
Select Cluster when the topic is broad enough to be divided into several connected microlessons. Lurny identifies the major subtopics and creates multiple learning items automatically.
For example, the topic Customer Service Excellence might be divided into:
Understanding customer needs
Communicating clearly
Handling complaints
Managing difficult conversations
Closing the interaction positively
Single Microlesson
Select Single Microlesson when the topic is narrow and should be covered in one consolidated learning experience.
For example:
How to greet a customer professionally at a bank branch.
Difficulty level
The difficulty setting should reflect the learners’ existing knowledge and the depth of learning required.
Easy: Introduces the basics using simple explanations and straightforward knowledge checks.
Medium: Develops conceptual understanding and includes practical application.
Hard: Explores the topic in greater depth using analysis, judgement or challenging workplace scenarios.
In the screen shown, Cluster and Easy are selected.
Examples
Example 1: New employee induction
Prompt:
Workplace email etiquette for newly joined employees, including subject lines, professional tone, response times and the safe handling of attachments.
This could generate an introductory cluster covering the essential practices of professional email communication.
Example 2: Sales capability
Prompt:
Create a medium-difficulty microlesson for relationship managers on identifying customer needs before recommending a financial product.
Lurny could generate explanations, examples and scenario-based questions on effective discovery conversations.
Example 3: Compliance awareness
Prompt:
Explain why employees must protect customer information and describe five practices that help prevent accidental data disclosure.
This could create a focused lesson on data confidentiality and responsible information handling.
Example 4: Leadership development
Prompt:
Create a cluster for first-time managers on delegating work, setting expectations, giving feedback and monitoring progress without micromanaging.
Because the subject includes several related capabilities, Cluster would be the appropriate option.
Recent microlessons from Topic
The lower section displays microlessons and clusters previously generated from prompts. Each card may show:
The generated cover image
The microlesson or cluster title
Whether the content is a cluster
The number of items within the cluster
Other learning and engagement information
Selecting a card allows the creator to open and manage the generated content.
Recommended practices
State the learning topic clearly and specifically.
Mention the intended audience and their level of knowledge.
Include the desired learning outcome wherever possible.
Add the workplace, industry or organisational context.
Specify important points that must be covered.
Use Cluster for broad topics and Single Microlesson for focused topics.
Avoid combining unrelated subjects in one prompt.
Verify facts, examples and questions before publishing.
Adapt generic AI-generated content to your organisation’s policies and terminology.
Important: Prompt-generated content may draw on general AI knowledge rather than an organisation-approved source. Subject-matter experts should verify its accuracy, currency and organisational relevance before it is published.
